About

I’ve spent 14 years working in the charity sector, helping organisations make sense of technology and turn it into real impact, without the jargon.
My background
I began my charity career in frontline roles supporting disadvantaged young people. In my eagerness to solve day-to-day problems, I taught myself to configure CRM systems and eventually to write code. The first thing I ever built was a Salesforce sign-up page for volunteers that saved the charity I worked for hours of admin every week.
In 2016 I founded Impact Box, a consultancy for charities. Over five years we supported more than 80 social-purpose organisations across a range of sectors, and I grew the team from 1 to 10. I left in 2022, and the rest of the team now operate as a worker-owned cooperative.
Today I provide freelance software consultancy and training for charities, alongside developing and managing Tent, an online community platform for the third sector. I’m also pursuing part-time postgraduate study in philosophy at the University of Warwick. I’m based in London.
How I work
I’m not tied to any one platform; the right solution depends on the organisation. I have deep experience configuring and developing Salesforce for charities, but I’m also a full-stack engineer comfortable with custom code and no-code tools alike, and I’m always happy to help with software problems of any kind. The tool follows the problem, not the other way round.
What ties it all together is communication. I pride myself on explaining technical subjects clearly and simply, which makes me especially comfortable delivering training or giving strategic advice on how an organisation can get the most from its software. I also bring expertise in impact measurement and data analysis.
